Children are born with the remarkable ability to "see" ghosts and spirits.  They are able to do this from birth, quite possibly because they have just come from "the Other Side", and in a sense, are still "close" to it.  Unfortunately, society pressures us as we grow older to give up our "imaginary friends" and that believing in ghosts is "rubbish" because "they don't really exist".
We here at Learn About Ghosts do believe that ghosts exist, and that children shouldn't be taught "not to believe".  How sad it is that we as a society train ourselves not to use our special "sixth sense" to feel, see or hear the ghosts and spirits that are all around us.  We use the other five senses that we have; sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing...so why do we tend to squelch our "sixth sense"?
It could be that we're afraid that society might think we're "crazy" because we can't prove what we "see" or "feel".  It could also be a fear of admitting that ghosts are a reality, because that would be too scary to consider, and so a "defense mechanism" (such as fear) shuts down the belief system.
One of the things that research has shown us is that there seem to be many photos of children looking right at some anomaly in the photo, such as the examples on this page.  Children are usually photographed with these odd images up until about age 6, when they are usually told to stop believing in "imaginary friends", because the child is "too old for that anymore".  We are, in a sense, told to "grow up" and stop believing in "fairy tales" or "ghost stories".  This conditioning usually results in many people growing up confused or afraid of any paranormal encounters that they may have.  They may even go so far as to question their own sanity when they see things.
As a result, some adults will tend to disbelieve or doubt the paranormal experiences that they may have throughout their lives.  Or, even more sadly, they may not even recognize a paranormal experience for what it really is.  Not all paranormal experiences are bad, in fact, research has shown that the majority of paranormal experiences are either good or neutral.
Are the children in these photos seeing spirits?  One would tend to want to believe that perhaps these are the spirits of loved ones who have gone before, visiting that little child, grandchild or even great-great-great grandchild that they didn't get to see while living.
Or perhaps before we're born, we're issued a Guardian Angel, who watches over us while we're in the womb, and then perhaps visits shortly after birth to reassure the baby that they're still around.   Or maybe the Guardian Angel is even reintroducing themselves, because the spirit that resides in the baby may have forgotten who or what their Guardian Angel is once the baby's spirit entered their physical body.
So when our children tell us that they're talking to or playing with their Guardian Angel or "imaginary friend", instead of us saying, "That's nice, sweetie", maybe we should be reaching for our cameras instead.  We might also consider saying "thank you" and expressing feelings of appreciation towards these Guardians and family, for visiting our children to amuse them and protect them.
Whether it's a family member who has crossed over, or a Guardian Angel, one thing is certain...the children in these photos are not afraid of what they're seeing.  Perhaps adults wouldn't be either, if they hadn't been conditioned to stop believing when they were young themselves.  Maybe we should make it a point of taking time out from teaching our children, in order to learn from them about the things we can't see or touch.
If we adults want to see, hear or experience ghosts and spirits, perhaps the first step is the simplest one that we can learn from our children:

                                                                To simply believe.
