Electronic Voice Phenomena

Ghost voices, more commonly known as Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), is the science of recording what is thought to be the actual ghostly voices of the deceased.  Tape recorders and even video recorders can be used, as long as they have the capability to record sound.

Ghost voices can range from very soft, barely heard whispers to loud yells.  Voices of men, women and children have been recorded saying a great many number of things.  Their voices have been captured simply by asking questions while leaving a tape recorder running.

There seem to be two different kinds of responses captured by recordings.  First there are interactive recordings, in which ghosts seem to respond to questions posed by the investigator.  Secondly, there are spontaneous recordings, in which the voices captured seem to be blurted out, with no real connection to investigative questioning whatsoever.

EVPs can be, and have been, captured in any number of places.  Places that are known to be haunted are the best bet for capturing an EVP, but surprising results have been successfully captured in cemeteries as well.  If you suspect a haunting in your home, it isn't unreasonable to try recording an EVP of your own.

Below are examples of EVPS that have been captured on investigations.
